Analysis of a Music Video 2: Kasabian - Fire


Shot
To introduce the members of the band we have close-ups of each of them including the main singer who is seen In the reflection of the window, it also introduces the setting, which looks like a rural, quiet American town.


Analysis


This scene introduces the setting and the characters to the main story of the video; this is yet to be revealed though.






“Take me into the night and I’m an easy lover”
We have cuts of the setting and the band members to introduce them to the audience.








Shot
The video starts to use tracking shots as it begins to get faster, we watch each member looking suspiciously, and so you know that something’s going to happen.
Analysis


Things start getting faster and it seems like each person is in a rush, they’re planning something but what?

“And I’m on fire, and I’m on fire”
Quick cuts and tracking shots of the band members looking suspicious and organised.

Shot
We get a view of the inside of the bank as the job begins, the video looks like it is coming from a surveillance camera.
Analysis


The bank job begins and we see two members of the band storm into the bank with footage coming from a security camera.

“And I'm on fire...”
Cuts of the footage from the security camera.

Shot
Another close-up of the lead singer of the band, this is in the middle of the bank job perhaps he’s reminiscing on the job or is this before the job.
Analysis


He is reminiscing on the job because there is footage of bullets dropping to the floor over the reflection of the window.

“Heads up falling sky”
Reminiscing on the bank job.

Shot
Next we have an aerial shot of the setting outside, we see police cars coming up to the bank.
Analysis


The band members are still in side the bank while the cops are on their way. We then return to surveillance camera footage.

“And I'm on fire...”
The police surround the bank.

Shot
We now meet the band members in the back of the bank, with a few close-ups of their faces.
Analysis


The band members know the job has gone wrong, we have close-ups of their worried faces.


The robbers lock themselves in the back of the bank.
